What do you say when someone asks you what you do?

Hello! How has your weekend been?

I have to say I have become engrossed in the US election circus...and relieved that Joe Biden is taking the batten.

I also have been flooded with photos from Facebook from 4 years ago when I ran the New York marathon and Trump won! New York was electric!

This morning I ran 10km for the first time in about 6 months and felt strong and fit.....till I got to my car and found a $116 parking ticket because I had not parked my car the right way. Now this is a lousy way to make money I reckon!

I am jotting down a few notes for my Facebook Live tomorrow on my ZedAxis Facebook page at 12noon on the topic of "What do you do?" and how do we answer that in 30-60 seconds and be able to sketch out what we do on a napkin!

When you look at the picture below - the 5 I's to Impact - I am keen to hear what do you understand when you see this picture? Please reply to this email and let me know - what makes sense to me may not make sense to you...in which case my picture is not doing the job I want it to do...I'd love your feedback.

I am enjoying doing these lessons because these topics are fundamental to all professionals and business owners who want to create bigger and better results for themselves.

These are the 3 types of professionals I work with....

Do you want a new job?

Do you want new and better clients?

Do you want to leave your job and be a freelancer or consultant?

Now to the important topic that will help you move forward: What do you do?

Can you tell someone exactly what you do so they understand it? and can you say it in 30-60 seconds? Like an elevator pitch?

And even better - can you draw out what you do on the back of a napkin?

This is so important. And it can be really tricky.

But if you join me tomorrow - like most things I have a simple formula that you can use to frame up your expertise...Now that does not mean that you will easily find the words to fill in the gaps but you will make a start..

And as long as we start we are in with a shot.

Today I shared a simple framework I use to create a new habit - here it is in a nutshell:

1. Write down what you believe about the habit you want to start (Beliefs)

2. Write down what you must do to make this habit happen (Behaviour)

3. Write down how you define your identity today and who you are becoming as a result of putting this habit into action every day. (Your Identity)

My example:

I run 40 minutes 5/7 days every single week

1. I believe I can run every morning for 40 minutes 5 days /week and that by doing this I am getting healthier (this is key - the belief must link to the result you want)

2. I run 5/7 days for a min of 40 minutes (this is the behaviour that supports the belief)

3. I believe running helps me be my best self and most productive self today and I am becoming healthier fitter and will live a long and healthy life because I run and take care of my health, (this is part of my identity - how I see myself today...and how I want to be as my future best self)

Now it's your turn!

Curious to hear more? Ill be going through this tomorrow as part of the foundation to the "What do you do?" formula

Come join me on Facebook at 12 noon tomorrow https://www.facebook.com/liazalumszedaxis

Warm reagrds

Where are you plugging in? I would love your help if you are a female over 50 and starting a tech-related or online business, or know of a woman who is. My definition of a tech start-up is a new startup founder - so they may or may not be making money yet, but are using the internet to market and sell their product or the product they are developing is a software solution or app. I have a plan to help women tech founders monetise faster and would love to validate my course outline and pricing...

How are you feeling as we head toward the last few weeks of 2020? You may find this hard to believe but I have been wracking my brain trying to think of topics and ways to inspire you. From my research and conversations with clients and students, one of the recurring themes that pops up when I ask them what challenges them the most is their own thinking. Those negative thoughts and criticisms are so loud and it's so hard to change the channel when they are chiming away! And then come the...

Hello! The real secret to self worth is.......drum roll....waiting with baited breath...... This question has burbled away in the back of my mind throughout my 40 years of working. I know 40 years is such a long time! When I look at what drives my ambition, my work ethic, my focus and consistent search for "my dream job"....I was in the job market a lot!......I did have feelings of self-doubt which is linked to lack of self-worth. There is an element of wanting to prove something to myself,...
